Hannah Goulart, MD, The University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center, Houston, TX, discusses a retrospective study investigating hematological parameters in essential thrombocythemia (ET). The study found no parameters associated with thrombotic risk but found that a lower platelet count correlated with an increased risk of developing post-ET blast-phase or myelofibrosis.
