Back in July, Microsoft finally announced Windows 10 version 21H2.Once again, it's a minor update that will come in the form of an enablement package, just like versions 20H2 and 21H1 did.

Windows 10 version 21H2 will bring three new features related to Wi-Fi security, Windows Hello, and the Windows Subsystem for Linux, though these changes aren’t live yet in the first 21H2 preview build released today and will come in a future update, the Windows Insider team explained.

If you opt in to install the 21H2 preview build today, you'll continue to receive new 21H2 builds going forward and you'll soon get to test the three new 21H2 features that Microsoft detailed in its blog post.

In this video, I am doing an in-place upgrade using a Windows 10 21H1 ISO. This, of course, is just a test, so PLEASE DO NOT INSTALL THIS NEW VERSION ON A REAL HARDWARE! MESSING UP WITH THE PRE-RELEASE BUILDS CAN BE RISKY!

If you want to start testing out Windows 10 version 21H1, you can do it right now, and it's really easy to get started. You just need to do two things:
1. Enroll your PC in the Beta channel of the Windows Insider Program. You can do this by going to Settings 🡺 Update & Security 🡺 Windows Insider Program.
2. Check for updates, and then when the option is presented, opt into installing Windows 10 version 21H2.

That's it! It's not just it super easy, but it's also super fast. As mentioned earlier, it's just an enablement package, which is a very small update that bumps up the build number to 19044, and lights up some features. However, currently, the update doesn't include any new features. But in the future, It will simply light up the features that are already there.

Windows 10 will be coexisting with Windows 11 in the next couple of years, with Microsoft being committed to support the now six years old OS throughout 2015. If Windows 10 users with compatible PCs will be able to upgrade to Windows 11 for free, Microsoft won't be leaving behind the more than 1.3 billion monthly active devices on Windows 10.
