Electricity is very useful to people. Many appliances in our homes and schools need electricity to work.

Light bulbs, ovens, refrigerators, washing machines and kettles all use electricity produced in power stations.

Some devices, such as mobile phones, flashlights and many watches get electricity from batteries. Batteries come in different shapes and sizes. Some batteries can be used over and over. Others must be disposed of once they no longer produce electricity.
