Starship V4.5's 11th flight test is preparing to launch as soon as December 29th. This flight will demonstrate a similar flight path to flight 10, delivering an experimental payload into space, and catching both stages of the vehicle. This flight will also test the brand new hotstaging preset, added between flight's 10 and 11. This means that the grid fins will rotate, and the sea-level raptors on ship will gimbal outward. This is how hotstaging works IRL. We added a new forward-facing camera on one of the booster chines, meant to give a new view of hotstaging. Flight 11 is also the first flight of V4.5 to follow the IFT-6 timeline, as all previous flights have followed the IFT-2 timeline. It will also follow the timeline all the way to ship engine cutoff at T+8:27, unlike previous flights that only followed up to hotstaging. We are also testing a new way of the booster flip maneuver after hotstaging, aiming to be more realistic.

Ship "Estes," our newest ship, has been chosen as the candidate for V4.5 flight 11. It is equipped with similar hardware to Ship Hawk Tuah with a large payload door. Ship Hawk Tuah, while not flying for flight 11, is not being scrapped. It will be set aside as we continue to introduce new ships. It could be reflown in the future for a third flight.

No new cladding has been bolted onto the tower for this launch as it feels unnecessary to do so at this time.

A launch window is open from 4:00pm PST - 8:00pm PST. This means if we needed to finish up something that is vital to the flight, we'd be able to hold for up to 4 hours.
