The All India Trinamool Congress on Monday, November 22, staged a protest outside the Ministry of Home Affairs over the alleged violence against its members in Tripura on Sunday.
Trinamool Youth Congress president Saayoni Ghosh was arrested on Sunday and charged under sections of attempt to murder by the Tripura Police. She allegedly tried to run over BJP workers at a public meeting. Local body elections are scheduled on November 25 in Tripura. TMC sought an appointment with Home Minister Amit Shah to submit a report. However, they were denied one.
Speaking to India Today, TMC Lok Sabha MP, Kalyan Banerjee said, “We repeatedly called the Home Minister’s office for an appointment, but weren’t given one. This is why we decided to come and stage a protest outside the MHA.”
