'Ajam Nirvikalpam'
Composed by Adi Shankaracharya 😇
The Ganesa sthavam or the stotram is chanted on the eve of Ganesh Chaturthi in the praise of the Lord Ganesha. The chant or the stotram celebrates the essences of Ganesha, the formless deity worshipped in a magnificent form of the elephant-headed God, symbolizing the divine qualities, for the benefit of the devotees.
The Ganesha stotram begins with 'Ajam Nirvikalpam Niraakaaramekam,' where Lord Ganesha is described as Ajam (unborn), Nirvikalpa (attributeless), Niraakaar (formless) as he symbolizes the absolute consciousness that pervades all and brings order in this universe. When sang on the auspicious eve of Ganesh Chaturthi, the stotram helps the devotee to cut through any layer of ignorance, leading to the ultimate knowledge as Lord Ganesha is the embodiment of source, course, and goal of knowledge.
