Residents of Ojur in Alego Usonga in Siaya are calling on both the county and the national governments to save the dwindling lake bob that has been a source of income to the residents. The manmade lake that receives water from River Yala was established by an American investor in 1997 who was using it for irrigation of his rice farm. And as Emily Chebet reports, fishermen have been benefiting from the lake after the exit of the investor but in the last few years, the lake is facing extinction due to water hyacinth and lack of proper maintenance.
