Jean Matillon c.1970s 20cm saucepan before/after retinning. This size pot costs about $100 to get professionally retinned, more cost-effective in the long run than replacing most "ceramic" nonstick pans or premium Teflon brands like Hexclad when the coating fails.
Copper cookware retinning can be done again more or less eternally, and is typically needed only a few times in an owner's lifetime. By contrast the same $100 would get you maybe 18 months of the same size pot from a popular nonstick brand like Caraway before it's off to a landfill; nonstick coated cookware is both inherently disposable, and as a practical matter impossible to recycle.
