Fishing leaders or traces are sections of line or wire that are added between the main fishing line and the lure or bait. The leader is made of a different type or weight of line to provide an extra set of benefits. The most common type of main fishing line & leader setup is braided line to a fluorocarbon leader. This provides the high strength and low diameter of braided line and adds the abrasion resistance and low visibility of fluorocarbon near the lure.
