László Varró became the Head of Gas and Electricity Markets of the International Energy Agency (IEA) on the Monday after Fukushima and led the IEA’s work on LNG markets, gas supply security as well as electricity market design. Later, as Chief Economist of the IEA he built a new team for the analysis of energy investment and was also involved in the new IEA Net Zero roadmap. László started his job as Vice President Global Business Environment at Shell International B.V. as of September 2021. László’s first energy job as a regulator was electricity and gas pricing reform and market liberalization in Hungary.
His industry tenure as the Strategy Director of MOL Group coincided with the ramp up of oil prices and the introduction of emissions trading in Europe.
