Authentic Indonesian Cooking Made Easy: Ikan Rica-Rica Manado
Welcome to our fourth cooking video. My wife, Suhanah, is making Rica Rica Manado. This fiery sauce is found throughout Southeast Asia. It is a popular dish in Manado cuisine and is used with a variety of meats, fish, seafood and poultry. In this video, we originally call it Rica-Rica Makassar because that is where my wife first learned to cook this type of incredibly tasty and hot meal. We use white fish today because that is our favorite. Cooking rica-rica takes a bit longer than the other dishes that Su has cooked, but it is well worth it. If you don't care for really spicy food, it can be modified to suit other tastes. Su explains how to do this in the video.
Su also makes a quick salad to go with the Ikan Rica-Rica using onions, string beans and bean sprouts.
