Today, I have a California unemployment update regarding why you’re still seeing the maximum benefits paid message in your CA EDD UI Online account or why you don’t see the next time you can certify for benefits at all. Don’t worry, that’s normal you do not need to open a new claim or reopen your unemployment, there’s nothing you need to do right now. The CA EDD is working on revising our claims and will send us notification when we can certify for benefits again. If you just certified for benefits this past Sunday 12/27, you will not be able to certify again this Sunday 1/3 but that doesn’t mean you will miss out on the first extra $300 unemployment boost. You will not get the $300 boost this week if you don’t certify this week but when you can certify again, you will get the boost. You do not lose the $300 extra unemployment boost just because you don’t certify for unemployment benefits this week. If you only certified for one week of benefits last week, you will not be able to certify this week, again, we are waiting for the EDD to notify us when we can certify again. The CA EDD had us certify for that one week and it may not have been your usual week to certify, they had you certify a week early because the new stimulus bill had not been signed into law yet extending both the PUA and PEUC extension deadlines so the CA EDD had to go ahead an operate as though that’s when those programs were ending. PUA unemployment and the PEUC extension were both extended in the new stimulus bill so now we just have to wait to see when we can certify for unemployments again. I hope it’s soon!
