The UCC's second annual Earth Summit featured the celebrated author and activist Bill McKibben delivering the Jim Antal Keynote Lecture with the title, "Energy from Heaven or Energy from Hell?" Additionally, a panel of award-winning activists spoke of their David-versus-Goliath struggle against Formosa Plastics, one of the world's largest plastics producers. The panelists included Sharon Lavigne from Rise St. James, Diane Wilson from the San Antonio Bay Estuarine Waterkeeper, and Nancy Bui from the International Monitor Formosa Alliance and Justice for Formosa Victims. The summit also featured the announcement of the Dollie Burwell Prophetic Action Award winner, a celebration of the UCC's newest Creation Justice Churches, and a video showcasing the environmental ministries of the host congregation, The Church of Christ at Dartmouth College.
