In this ten minute challenge we look at a watercolour and sketching challenge set by @the.curious.sketcher on Instagram #drawdonsouttakes. This mini 'tutorial' is just me talking through my simple approach to easy drawing and painting in my sketchbook.

Today I play with a more delicate sketch and typically loose colours, but perhaps less intense than normal. We also use ink to bring out contrasts, for example in the details of the windows.
Another useful tip from today, is using firm lines to bring structures into the foreground - whilst leaving looser lines to keep them in the back. For example, I use a firm line only on one side of the light house as this emphasises both it's shape, and it's relationship to the surrounding roofs.
Today I'm sketching using fine liners from Unipin (0.8mm and 0.5mm) and rotring (0.1mm), a range of Daniel Smith Watercolours, and a cold pressed sketchbook (A5).
