(17 Jun 1963) New Zealander Peter Snell and Jim Beaty of Los Angeles, among the strong competition, in this mile race, in California. It was the last meeting of Peter Snell's American tour. And so far, he hadn't lost a race. Snell takes the lead - and heads the field to a sensational finish, who's time was 55.5. For the first time in history, six runners (in a mile race) all better a time of four minutes.
