Develop a “Just Race” Mindset and Tackle Problems like a Professional Athlete
We’ll hear the life story of Singaporean para-athlete Wei Soong and his on-going seven year journey to the Tokyo 2020 Paralympic Games. Through building a solid “champion’s mindset,” he has been able to tackle competition at the highest levels of sport with courage and resilience, embodying a concept he calls “to just race.”
Wei Soong will share his experiences and struggles in facing adversity, both as an athlete and a student, as well as how he manages to overcome obstacles to find success and contentment, as a sportsman and a human being.
He will help us understand:
Why we are possibly spending too much effort and time than is necessary to succeed, whether it be in work or sport
How suffering can be a positive and even desirable experience if taken in the context of your goals
How understanding oneself as a human being is absolutely necessary to succeed at the highest levels of sport and life
Toh Wei Soong, Para-Olympian, Competitive Swimmer, Inspirational Human
Taking part in international para-swimming events since the age of 15, Wei Soong is a multiple gold medal-winning para-swimmer, and he found success as a high-performance athlete for Singapore, winning medals and records at the Commonwealth, Asian, and ASEAN Para Games.
He won bronze in the 50-meter freestyle at the 2018 Commonwealth Games and he was also a two-time gold medallist at the 2018 Asian Para Games for both the 50 meters and 100-meter freestyle events. He is currently studying at the National University of Singapore in the University Scholars Programme. Get ready to be inspired by a true champion.
