(7 Apr 2020) 'WESTWORLD' ACTRESS THANDIE NEWTON SAID PEOPLE NEED TO BE MORE CAREFUL WITH THE SHARING OF THEIR INFORMATION
"Westworld" actress Thandie Newton insists her "fairly quiet life" means she hasn't felt the need to change the way she uses technology since working on the show, but warns we should all be more cautious about the information we share.
The British star has won a Primtime Emmy and been Golden Globe nominated twice for her performance as an android in a huge leisure park, where the "hosts" become sentient and rebel.
"The show is fantasy, but it's earthed in really up to date information. Our show runners are fabulous geeks and Silicon Valley are friends of the show. So, we are privy to some pretty amazing information which then gets fed into the drama," she said at the season three premiere in March.
"But for me personally, I mean, I lead a fairly quiet life. And I'm really not tech savvy. So, I do think the sharing of information, we do need to be more conscious of where that can lead."
Co-star Luke Hemsworth admits he doesn't think deeply about the tech he's using.
"No, I'm like an ostrich with my head in the sand. It's okay just as long as it all keeps working. Yeah, it's fine."
The show's husband and wife co-creators, Lisa Joy and Jonathan Nolan, admit that they rely heavily on their phones, "same as everyone else'.
"We talk about it all the time in the show," said director, co-creator and executive producer Nolan. "The sort of devil's bargain that you're making with these technologies. But, you know, especially when you have kids, it's very hard to pass up some of the modern conveniences."
"Westworld" season 3 is airing on HBO.
