Ensemble for authentic folklore"Gaidunica" had made a valiant and impressive presentation of the Bulgarian Republic on the 45th anniversary international folklore festival in Zakopane, Poland. Ensemble had taken part at the hardest category "authentic folklore" and has won prize "Silver Axe". The festival was held from 23 to 30 August 2014. Attended by a total of 17 ensembles from 14 countries: Benin, Bulgaria, Indonesia, Canada, Macedonia, Macedonia, Poland, Romania, Russia, North Cyprus, Slovakia, Serbia, Hungary, Czech Republic and Croatia.The ensemble presented to the audience at the festival and the jury a custom called "brotherhood" (Pobratimstvo), full of diversity and joy, which shows the magic of Bulgarian folk dances and the beauty of Bulgarian costumes. The ensemble causes а great interest during the traditional processions on the streets of Zakopane. Residents and guests applaud the temperamental performance of dances and songs. For the first time in the history of the festival the jury awards a special prize to Hristo Midyurov, seventeen years old - playing bagpipe - for the best performance in terms of style, repertoire and preservation of traditions. The festival was first held in 1934, initially included only groups from Poland. Conduction was interrupted during the Second World War, and started again in 1968, when were invited to participate folklore ensembles from all around the world. To participate are invited amateur folk groups who are able to present their original traditions of music, songs, dances, rituals and customs. The main aim of the festival is to promote and preserve the values that affect the preservation of national identity and promoting traditions and relations between people of different ethnicities.
