At least 45 people dead after a fire broke out in a building housing workers in the city of Mangaf in southern Kuwait. As many as twenty-three residents of Kerala were among 45 Indians who died in the fire incident on June 12. 7 from Tamil Nadu, 3 from Andhra Pradesh, 1 each from Bihar, Odisha, Karnataka and other states lost their lives. A special IAF aircraft carrying mortal remains of 45 Indian victims reached Cochin International Airport on June 14. The incident has sent shockwaves through communities both in Kuwait and India.
