Juniper Level Botanic Garden Director Tony Avent talks about his passion for this spring garden showstopper, how he came to admire them, the tragic loss of the wild cultivars and the current hybridization work that is being done to restore and increase the diversity of flower color, growth habit, foliage color and blooming time.
