The European Medicines Agency said Thursday that the AstraZeneca COVID-19 vaccine is not linked to an overall increased risk of blood clots.

Executive director Emer Cooke stressed it is a "safe and effective vaccine," adding that its benefits in protecting people from COVID-19 outweigh any possible risks.
