Steve Carell is at the heart of Minions: The Rise of Gru. What? You think it's the minions? Naaaa. We're going behind the scenes to check out just went into making the movie. Carell's voice in the role is iconic, being an amalgamation of, or a general European accent of sorts (which doesn't exist but he somehow managed to invent one anyways). Did you know his children influenced the voice when they were just little? They're not so little anymore but his son is still so proud of his pop. But now that Carell is playing a young Gru, he's had to adjust the voice and make it even weirder than before. Is this movie feeling a bit like deja vu to you? If so, you're not going crazy, they've been marketing the Rise of Gru for over two years thanks to the pandemic. The longest any company has ever marketed a movie. After winning a lifetime achievement award Julie Andrews was reduced to recording in a closet. Taraji P. Henson was leaning into the softness of her character to really make her villainy stand out. You don't start at 100. Poor Danny Trejo wasn't allowed to be anything but himself. No acting allowed! The movie was jam-packed with improvisation too. Ready to find out more about your favourite little animated character? Once again, we aren't talking about the minions but Gru!!!
