🦶 Proximal/Distal Fibula Dorsiflexion Mobilization with Movement (MWM)
.
.
💥 Today’s manual therapy technique is a mobilization with movement (MWM) to the ankle. We emphasize the importance of ankle dorsiflexion (foot up) range of motion for all of our athletes. Having adequate ankle mobility is crucial to our runners, jumpers, and weightlifters to ensure quality movement and should be addressed in your rehabilitation program!

📚This variation of the technique facilitates the arthrokinematics that occur at the fibula during the motion of dorsiflexion. At the proximal fibula (closer to the knee) the fibula goes in the anterolateral direction and at the distal fibula (at the ankle) the fibula glides in the superior direction. Combining these both as the patient does the motion can help regain the motion in a pain free manner!
