Police are searching for a suspect linked to the Montgomery County shootings that left at least six people dead and one other injured Monday.
They have identified the shooter as 35-year-old Bradley William Stone, a military veteran. As of Monday afternoon, police said he is armed and dangerous, and that he may be wearing military fatigues and using a cane or walker.
At 3:55 a.m., authorities responded to a call at an apartment complex in Lower Salford Township. Inside they found a deceased woman, reportedly Stone’s ex-wife. Neighbors told reporters they heard the shots and saw Stone leave the apartment building soon after with two children. Police later discovered the children safe in a nearby home.
Thirty minutes later, police responded to a shooting at a house in Landsdale. They found two bodies inside, and a SWAT team was called in. SWAT reportedly stayed on site for about three hours, until they determined the area was secure.
Two additional incidents occurred in Souderton and Pennsburg. In Souderton, two more bodies were found inside a home around 9:45 a.m. At some point, a stretcher was transported from the house to a helicopter. Stone was initially thought to be barricaded inside that home, but a SWAT team cleared the area several hours later.
A SWAT team was most recently active outside a home in Pennsburg, which is Stone’s hometown. Witnesses heard several gunshots from inside that house around 1:30 p.m. No other details have been released.
Nearby schools were placed on modified lockdown, and the airspace above the area was deemed a no-fly zone for several hours.
As of Monday evening, there were six reported deaths and one injury. Five of the six shooting victims have been accounted for in reports, but details of the sixth are unclear.
Residents in Pennsburg were advised to stay inside and contact police with any additional information.
