Temple.Works.Look...When Temple Works was built as a flax mill in 1838, it was the largest room in the world. Its extraordinary engineering has never been repeated and the sheep who lived on its grassy, skylit roof have long gone. After a banal 20th century as a box factory and Kay's Catalogue depot (while gaining listing as a Grade One site), it was left to its own devices for five years...but since early 2009 it has started a process of reinvention as a private cultural venue, where anything can happen, and frequently does...At Temple.Works.Leeds, artists are doing it for themselves in amongst the building works that are bringing this wonderful place back to life, preparing it for entry into the top rung of European cultural centres.
