Exploring Cardrona Forest, Peebles, Scottish Borders, Scotland: Hope everyone's well and you enjoy my recent visit to the beautiful Cardrona Forest. Thanks to everyone who's subscribed - it's deeply, deeply appreciated. As it's been for so many, it's been an unimaginably tough year and all the lovely comments & support have really helped me keep my spirits up - thank you :-)
Cardrona Forest is one of many gorgeous forests & woodlands managed by Forestry & Land Scotland. It's located in the beautiful Tweed Valley, about 3 miles east of Peebles, in the Scottish Borders and just over an hour's drive from Edinburgh City Centre. The nearest postcode for the car park is EH45 9HU. There's a small visitor centre at the car park with information for visitors and public toilets. You can download a map of the trails running through the forest at: [ Ссылка ]
Unfortunately, I picked an overcast, wet day for my visit, but it was still spectacularly beautiful, although filming was a bit of a challenge with very little light! I followed the brown 'Pikes Knowe' trail which is 4 miles and takes around 2 hours. The old fort you see in the video is called 'Castle Knowe' and it origins date back an incredible 2,000 years! The larch and spruce trees were spectacularly beautiful in their autumn colours. It was hard to do them justice on film due to the rain and poor light, but I hope you still got a sense of how beautiful they and the rest of the forest were. I was hoping to see Red Squirrels, but they were on their holidays that day, although the birdlife and accompanying bird song were absolutely mesmerising.
There are so many spectacular walks in the Tweed Valley. Other notable forests & woodlands worth exploring nearby are Glentress, Cademuir, Caberston, Thornielee and Yair which you can find more details of on the Forestry and Land website at [ Ссылка ]
I've had to take a little time off from uploading videos, please accept my apologies. I hope to get more uploaded very soon. Thanks again to everyone who's supported me this year - I appreciate every single one of you.
