After years of failing to climb this peak,
extreme winds hit during our attempt in July, forcing us yet again to retreat.
Domes de Miage is a great beginner mountain if you have glacier crossing experience, because of this, years back we planned for it to be Viv's first Alpine peak, but it never came to be...
I attempted it with Viv at the end of June, but after wind gusts of over 80km/HR, we retreated close to refuge Tre la Tet.
A week later, I returned alone.
I didn't think it was possible to solo Domes de Miage initially due to its glacier crossing. After some research, I discovered that reversing the route behind Refuge du Conscrits and going Via Aiguille de la Berangere, is an option.
The route is quite steep and exposed via Aiguille de la Belangere, definitely not what I'd recommend to a beginner...
However, the views of the Mont Blanc massif and the surrounding Alpine peaks are incredible and worth all the trouble!
