On Good Friday 29th March 2024, while based in York for the annual model railway show, yours truly made a day trip to the North Yorkshire Moors Railway.
With the 2024 season just getting underway, there was a fair amount of activity with trains operating between Grosmont and Pickering (and a few services along the Esk Valley line to Whitby), including the 'Moorlander' dining train on a lunchtime outing.
This video charters the days events, featuring the following operational locomotives:
1) LMS Black Five 5428 (Eric Treacy)
2) LNER J27 (NER P3) 2392
3) BR 9F 92134
4) BR Class 25 D7628
As well as a ride up the line via Levisham and Goathland, there is also a visit to the Motive Power Depot at Grosmont with a variety of engine and stock, either static or being shunted around.
With thanks to the staff and volunteers of the NYMR; wishing them a busy season ahead.
