With sixty thousand hectares of bamboo groves and over forty different species, the bamboo forest of Anji is nicknamed the green sea.
Bamboo possesses unique ecological properties: it can absorb thirty per cent more carbon dioxide than leafy trees, so it releases thirty per cent more oxygen too. This has earned Anji the title of the first national ecological region.
Lu Weng, who has worked in this forest for ten years, tells us all the secrets about this woody grass.
