Former Kisoro Woman Member of Parliament Rose Kabagyenyi has been declared winner of the Kisoro MP NRM primaries, after securing 39,941 votes or 47.7% of all ballots cast in an 8-person race. Declaring the results, NRM Electoral Commission Chairperson Fred Tanga Odoi noted that Kabagyenyi narrowly won the flag, after her closest challenger secured 39,197 votes or 46.8% of ballots cast.
Kabagyenyi, a former president, is expected to be the leading contender in the coming election to find a successor to former Minister Sarah Mateke, who suddenly died last month.
