Today’s video is a quick one demonstrating what can be done when you have a burnout.
➡️ A burnout is when the shakes have exposed the felt underneath. This can lead to the felt drying out and cracking. Once the felt begins to crack it will let water enter the house.
As you can see from the video, repairing burnouts can be a very simple process. We simply shim it using a shake or a shingle which covers the felt and prevents it from deteriorating.
➡️ This is normally done when we are performing out routine cleaning service. We will investigate the roof and make any repairs necessary!
When cleaning a cedar shake roof. We shim any exposed areas to further preserve the roof. No need to replace the roof, just repair it.
