Electrifying the Midland Main Line has reached a major milestone. The first of 8 electrical substations has now been installed that will carry power up and down the line via high voltage overhead line equipment to trains from 2020.
Electrification is part of the largest upgrade of the Midland Main Line since it was completed in 1870.
