One trope that seems like it will always be a part of sitcoms is the faceless character. Maybe a character has a wife or husband who is always being referenced but is never shown, or maybe we only see the character from behind or hear their voice, but we never see them in full.
In one case, the character was actually based on a real-life person, while another was described so unrealistically that they realized they could never bring them to the screen. Let’s take a look at the real reasons why some TV characters remained faceless throughout the entire run of their show.
