U.S. Attorney General Jeff Sessions was joined by several state attorneys general on Tuesday to discuss the Justice Department's commitment to ending the opioid epidemic in America.
Sessions announced the formation of the Prescription Interdiction and Litigation task force which will get to the root of the epidemic: the over-prescription and distribution of opioid pain killers.
Sessions said the crisis is a priority for the Trump administration and that they will continue "to attack the opioid crisis from every angle."
He also responded to a question about gun violence in the wake of the Florida shooting that killed 17. Sessions said that in his experience, he thinks that identifying mental illness and potential for violence at an early stage could help prevent a dangerous situation.
