In a major anti-narcotic operation, Manipur Police have destroyed around 70 acres of illegal poppy cultivation in Ukhrul district. Thirteen huts found on the poppy fields were also burned down, and an investigation is underway to identify those responsible. This follows the destruction of 55 acres of poppy in a nearby area last week. Since 2017, the Manipur government has destroyed over 19,000 acres of illegal poppy cultivation across 12 districts.
