The Ukrainian military says it's broken through Russia's first line of defense in a new counter-offensive to retake Kherson, which Moscow has occupied for months.
However, Russia reports the offensive failed and Ukrainian forces suffered heavy losses.

The Ukrainian military says it has broken through Russia's first line of defense in the Kherson region.
That's according to several western sources citing Oleksiy Arestovych, an adviser to Ukraine's Presidential office on Monday.
CNN reported that four towns have been reclaimed by Ukraine so far.
Russia has been occupying the region since the war's early stages around six months ago
It's considered a strategic gateway to the Black Sea and Crimea... and Ukraine had been aiming to cut off Russian forces there from their main supply routes by striking artillery storage facilities.
But Russian forces have said otherwise.
Its defense ministry said "heavy losses" were suffered by Ukrainian troops in the Kherson and Mykolaiv regions.
Meanwhile, regarding the situation in the Zaporizhzhia region... atomic energy experts from the United Nations traveled to the nuclear power plant on Monday to assess the situation.
They will also conduct urgent safeguarding activities and check on the conditions of the plant's staff.
The area had been hit by shelling earlier this month.
Ukrainian President Zelenskyy warned on Friday that the situation around the Zaporizhzhia nuclear power plant was "very precarious and dangerous"
Ukraine and Russia have both blamed each other for the attack.
