Even as the Gujarat govt opposes bail, claims that witnesses have stated Teesta gave "pre-typed affidavits" for them to sign, SC says High court can consider merits of the case for regular bail hearing on Sept 19. "the essential ingredients of the investigation including custodial interrogation have been concluded".
"We are considering only whether during the pendency of the bail application, the custody of the appellant is insisted upon," says SC bench of CJI Lalit, justices S Ravindra Bhat and Sudhanshu Dhulia.
