As far as legionella is concerned, the bacteria cannot survive for long periods in water temperatures above 60°C. If we can raise the temperature in the hot water cylinder to above this temperature for 5 minutes, then we can be sure that any Legionella bacteria present will not have survived the process.
It is advised that this cycle should take place weekly and is best ran during a time when there is no hot water demand, for example, overnight.
If you have an off-peak electric tariff, you can make the most of this by setting this cycle to run during those times.
NOTE: you cannot adjust the temperature of this cycle, this is factory set and cannot be adjusted in any way.
