Direct Fabrics suggest using dual applications to reduce the amount of light coming into a room.
1. Use a recess mounted blackout roller blind
2. Use Blackout lined or 3 pass blackout curtains to get total blackout. Floor to ceiling mounted. 1 cm off the floor so they glide well.
Measuring for the Curtains
Go past each side of the window ideally wall to wall. Or 30cm past either side to reduce the amout seepage if you dont want to spend as much money on getting total blackout out. As you can see in the video this is perfect for most applications
The Fabic Options
When buying you want to select 3 pass blackout curtain lining as your option to add a second fabric to the face material that is totally blackout and will not let light through into the room.
Or you can get hotel blackout fabrics that are already coated with a 3 pass layer. Which again stops the light coming through
Remember you will always get some light seepage it is layering materials and applications to stop this.
So to totally stop the light ingress do the following
1. Blackout Lining
2. Floor to ceiling curtains with pencil pleat heading to cover the track aswell as the area
3. Use a valance or pelmet for move coverage.
