I took the Luscombe last weekend down to Smith Mountain Lake in Virginia to check things out. I’ve been working on my float rating this summer and still need to do my check ride as the FAA examiner in Maine was booked during my August trip. There’s a flight school that offers float training at SML which looks like my best bet for completing my rating here in VA. If you haven’t been to Smith Mountain Lake, I’d definitely put this destination in your future flight plans. The airport has a B&B on the field and a full service FBO. Thanks for watching.
