Martin Lewis talks about the importance of making plans for your social media and other online accounts and the need to have a 'Social Media Will' in place. Social Media Will's should contain information about each of your social media and online accounts. Digital assets of a monetary, intellectual or high sentimental value should also be referenced in your Last Will & Testament however any account details should not be included in your Will.
This is for a number of reasons... The most important thing to know is that your Last Will & Testament becomes a public document when you die. It would therefore be a security risk if details about your accounts and their assigned email address etc were to be added to your Last Will & Testament.
The 'Social Media Will' referenced is free to download (as an n Excel document). Once downloaded to the device you are using, it can be completed and shared with one or more people who you trust.
