On 5/9/12,I would spend the day chasing the infamous CP #2816 or (The Empress) while on the Final Spike Tour. This tour was to celebrate the completion of the new Railroad Company “CPKC” which used to be two class 1 railroads which were “Canadian Pacific” & “Kansas City Southern” which the new company is getting close to a year old already. The 4-6-4 Hudson type steam locomotive was built by the Montreal Locomotive Works in 1930, and is owned and operated by the Canadian Pacific. The tour started form Calgary, Canada to Mexico City, Mexico. I would chase CPKC 40B throughout the state of Iowa. I would start out the day at Sabula Iowa and chase all the way to Davenport Iowa. We see 5 different shots when chasing and then complete our chase for May 9th. The next day on May 10th we would head down to Devenport once again for the #2816 event. First we would see #2816 back up to the mainline which would be shutdown for 3 hours for the event. We would spend the whole day getting to meet lots of really cool rail fans and take tons of pictures of 2816. We would the end of the day getting her one last and finale time heading back to Nanhat yard. We would wake up the next morning ready to chase but due to some inconveniences,we were able to catch her leaving Nanhat yard for Kansas city. We would end up going somewhere else which that video will be out soon so stay tuned for that. Anyways, locations are down below. Enjoy The Video!
