In 1991, Stephen Schwartz staged his new musical, "Children Of Eden", at the Prince Edward Theatre. The musical is based on the Book of Genesis. Act I tells the story of Adam and Eve, Cain, and Abel, and Act II deals with Noah and the Flood. It ran from January 8, 1991 - April 6, 1991.

Martin Smith was cast in the role of Adam. He sang the role on the 1991 London cast recording and is very fondly remembered for his performance in the show.
