Room Temperature Water was 25ºc. Each kettles capacity was filled using scales.
Temperature Testing involved using an ICE calibrated Thermometer. Testing all kettles at 80,90,94ºc & Boiling. All kettles came within 0.5-1ºc of their temperature readouts. This consistency was also observed with the stability test, where the Kettles were left for 10mins off to see how each kettle contained the heat in the kettle. All Kettles read to within 0.5-1ºc range.
Kettle dB reading was checked with the Decimbels app on an iPhone 13 - 2ft away from the Kettle, from room temperature to boiling - noting the maximum dB reading during that time.
The maximum Flow rate was checked by filling all kettles to capacity - boing the water, then pouring the water out again as fast as possible into a container. The flow rate was calculated by dividing the water in the container by the seconds it took to pour out all the hot water.
Minimum Pour rate was attempted, but I was not satisfied with any reliable method to obtain consistent results across the kettles. I did note the Fellow EKG, Bonavita and Timemore Kettle appeared to have a more consistent stream of water, no matter the flow rate or height of pour. However, I was not able to hold a consistent enough slow pour rate across all kettles to accurately, and long enough to pinpoint any advantages from one to another. Though I do recommend in the video, that the Kettles that had naturally slower maximum pour rates did seem to be less difficult in obtaining and maintaining pour rates of less than 10ml/sec versus those kettles that naturally poured higher maximum flow rates.
I will also point out here, from stalling the pouring (slowing the pour rate down so much it stops pouring) - the only kettle that stood out for difficult re-start of pouring was the Varia Kettle, which had quite an exaggerated fluted spout and seemed to hold a vacuum where on restart of pouring, would come out quite fast first before slowing down.
