Hi, I'm Vasudha Mahajan and I'm a pediatrician with Norton Healthcare. I love pediatrics for a whole number of reasons but I love that you can be an advocate for all the little kids. You watch them grow right from the time they're newborn, all the way till their teenager and I feel the relationships and the bonding that you form with them, as well as their families, is just something so unique and so special to pediatrics.
Pediatrics is different in some ways from adult medicine because a lot of the history and a lot of the information that you need actually comes from the parents and the families and not from the patient himself or herself. So I think it requires a special skill to examine the patients, to get most of your answers, as well as a special skill, to get all the information that you need to diagnose or come up with a treatment plan.
I am originally from India where I grew up and I went to medical school there. I moved to the United States for my residency. I went to a UTMB in Galveston, Texas, for my pediatric residency and I practiced in Alabama for four years as an outpatient pediatrician and I'm here now, with my husband who also a physician and he is also as Norton Healthcare. He's a pediatric cardiologist and that's the reason we are in Louisville, Kentucky and we're very excited about it.
Love traveling, which has been on hold a little for the last year, but love traveling. Love trying out different cuisines and eating. A definite Netflix binge watcher and recently started kickboxing, so that's my new favorite hobby.
