The School of AI & Data Science at IIT Jodhpur was inaugurated by Professor Geoffrey Hinton, Turing Award Winner and Emeritus Distinguished Professor, Department of Computer Science, University of Toronto, Canada, during the Institute's 6th Convocation on December 6, 2020.
The School would operate specialised educational programmes and host focussed trans-disciplinary Centres of Excellence. It would also work with industry, startups, incubators and accelerators, and promote the AI and Data Science-centric innovation ecosystem. The School, through application of AI and Data Science techniques, would contribute towards solving basic problems faced by humanity.
Professor Hinton, during the inauguration of the School, wished every success to the School which is set to play a major role in basic research and applications of AI & Data Science both in India and on the global stage.
