Reusable Glow Sticks! Make bigger, stronger and brighter DIY glow sticks that you can use over and over again. Creative, fun and easy way to make glow sticks that can brightly light up for hours using materials that are pretty easy to get. Regular glow sticks rely on a chemical glow caused by chemical reaction which is why they can only be used once. This is a phosphor glow which works by absorbing light and then slowly releasing it. The key glow agent is called strontium aluminate and you can buy it on line under multiple names; most types include reference to "super glow powder" or some other "super glow" type of name (I bought mine on Amazon). I also used the following key items:
- Glycerin (food grade - can be bought in pharmacies, baking stores, etc.)
- Vinyl tubing - clear (I got a 10' length of 3/8" outside diameter X 1/4" inside diameter at the local hardware store, in the plumbing section)
- Heat gun (easy to find at hardware stores, Harbor Freight and some craft stores)
- Small syringe (the children's medicine dispenser type is perfect and can be found in pharmacies)
This project is a Dialed In expansion on previous DID videos beginning with "Make Picnic packets - Camping or Hiking - Waterproof Containers" ([ Ссылка ]).
I used the same super glow powder for the video "Make Reusable Glow Sticks" as well: [ Ссылка ] (in that video I used a different tube and a different fluid).
Also, for more glow projects please check out How to make 3D Glow Stars ([ Ссылка ]).
CHARGING GLOW STICKS:
1. Best light sources: direct sun light, black light tubes, UV LEDs
2. Good light sources: Fluorescent bulbs (long tubes), CFLs
3. Weak light sources: regular bulbs and regular LEDs
NOTE: the better the source = quicker charge and the brighter glow!

Please use caution when working with materials. Keep glow sticks out of reach of young children. Please read precautions on packaging for any materials that you may use before beginning.
