#6 How to form the elephant armature using aluminum foil as a filler
In this video I demonstrate step by step how to utilize aluminum foil as a filler to reduce the weight of the clay sculpture; moreover, how to keep the cost down by filling in all the negative space with foil. The elephant torso is massive and would take a lot of tubs/bricks of clay to build it up. In my demo I prep the armature to accept 1/4” to 3/4” layer of clay. The thickness will vary on the particular areas of the elephant. The aluminum foil allows me to sculpt the elephant’s body by applying pressure with my hands to the loosely layered foil I created.
