This arrived in a Avalla branded box with images of the dehumidifier on the outside. When opened the unit is protected top and bottom with bespoke polystyrene and wrapped in a clear plastic bag, and on the top you get a bag containing the warrantee information along with an instruction manual. Everything seemed well packed and protected.

Once opened there is a notice on the top of the unit informing you it must be in an upright position for at least 24 hours before use, and it may create more noise when first used until the unit settles down. I had a read through the instructions which are all in English covering three dehumidifiers with a specific section detailing the X-200.The unit is quite heavy but does have handle inserts on the top for lifting, and wheels on the bottom to move it around.

First impressions: in my opinion this is quite a sleek looking unit with a small LED light panel on the front showing eight blue lights when in use. The control panel is on the top also displaying in blue with covered push button controls which activate easily with little pressure. The air outlet lifts up and folds down when required and has a nice smooth movement, and the water tank slides out easily although I did find the power cable very close to it so I needed to move it out of the way to remove and replace.

Once I had read through the instructions I set it up in the corner of my room and gave it a test out. I found the instructions easy enough to follow and once I had set the humidity target started it and left it running. I didn’t think it was very noisy and in my opinion around the same volume as a desk fan running. After just over four hours I stopped and unplugged it and emptied the water, it had collected 400ml of water in the time it was running which I thought was good considering the base humidity level was 47% in that area.

I have since tested out the timer which worked perfectly as described, I tested out the clothes drying feature and that seemed to work well on the low fan speed. I have now tested it in all the bedrooms running over night and was pleased with the performance, with good water collection in all. I did not find the sound while sleeping too intrusive on the low fan speed setting and it didn’t disturb anyone’s sleep.

Overall this dehumidifier in my opinion works really well, I found it easy to move around the house either using the wheels or handles, I didn’t think it was overly noisy, the controls are clear and easy to adjust. With low power usage being more important than ever now this has a low power usage, and using non-toxic, and environmentally safe refrigerant I can’t really fault its green credentials. The only very small issue I had with this was the power cable being close to the water take removal meaning each time you remove or replace the tank you have to ensure the cable is out of the way.
