In this video we visit Pueblo Mágico #64 Tlayacapan and #65 Tepoztlán - both in the state of Morelos.
We start out in Tlaycapan strolling down the busy walking street before trying to visit an ex-convento (Ex-convento de San Juan Bautista), but it is also undergoing reconstruction after the 2017 earthquake. After we stop by the Mercado Municipal for a very filling and economical lunch. Filled up we walk all around town visiting a bunch of their capillas or chapels (Capilla del Rosario, Templo del Señor de la Exaltacion, Capilla Santa Cruz de Tlazcalchica, Capilla San Martín Caballero, and Capilla de la Santa Cruz de Altica). We finish up the day at a cantarito bar before driving to the final capilla (Capilla Santiago).
In Tepoztlán we make the grueling hour hike to a pyramid on top of a mountain (Zona Arqueológica Tepozteco). The breathtaking views were definitely worth all the work. A lot of people attempted the climb, but it was mostly younger people who made it to the top. After the climb down we stop for a much deserved beverage and snack before continuing into the very busy town. We stop by a church near the main zocalo (Iglesia de la Santísima Trinidad), but the gate was closed. After, we find the town letters, snap a photo, and stumble upon some dancers performing in traditional costumes. We then continue on to a beautiful church and exconvento (Parroquia Nuestra Señora de la Natividad). Still needing more calories after the hike we head to a food hall (Mercado el Mango) and fill up on some BBQ. We finish out the day with some much needed ice cream from a famous ice cream shop with a wall of different flavors (Tepoznieves).
